Jamies Blog Update #4: DwyerOnline!!!

10th July

The reason for my blog is to introduce my new website! It will be launching in just a few days and I have had an overwhelming amount of support and questions from people wanting to know more about it….

The most frequently asked question is what is DwyerOnline? DwyerOnline is an online coaching website with videos of mostly myself explaining and demonstrating a range of different skills. The website is set up in two different categories; Individual Packages and Coaching Packages. These two are totally different packages .  Individual Packages can be for everyone and anyone who wants to become a better hockey player, while the Coaching Packages are designed specifically for coaching teams. Each Individual Package, that is, goal shooting, defending/tackling, passing, dribbling/eliminating, receiving/stopping and drag flicking (featuring Luke Doerner) contains video demonstrations and key points explaining how …

Jamies Blog Update #3: Olympic Team

2nd July

The team has been named and I’m very happy to say that I’ve been named in the team and if I stay injury free, I’ll be going to my third Olympics. I must say that I’m over the moon and I can’t wait to get to London.

Sometimes I ask myself, why me? Why, I am so lucky to have what I’ve got? What if I get injured and don’t go to the Olympics, what will I do then? What if I hit a hat trick in the final? The answer  to those questions I don’t know. All I know is that I’m lucky to have done what I’ve done and I have to the most of my opportunities. I’m also very privileged and honored to do what I do and what I’ve got. Every time I play a game for …

Jamies Blog Update #2: Euro Trip

1st May

I’m on the plane on my way to the London Test Event. I can’t wait to get off this plane and have a look at the Olympic Village and the Olympic Hockey Stadium where hopefully I/we, in 3 months time, dominate the Olympics. Well that’s the plan anyway.

In the London Test Event we play against Germany, Great Britain and India, all very tough teams and it will be a good test for us as a team and individually. After London we head to Belgium to play a couple of games and then to Germany for a few more games. All up, 3 countries, 24 days, 8 games and a whole lot of pressure.

Its starting to get into selection period and this is when you see a lot of different personalities and moods from the players in the squad. So far …

Jamies Blog Update #1 : The Olympics

10th April

The Olympic Games is the biggest sporting event in the world. Its the pinnacle of my sportand for all the athletes that take part. Everything about the olympics is electrifying. As soon as you step foot inside the olympic village you feel a buzz that you’ve never felt before. You are in an elite company inside that village and the good thing about the village is that everyone is equal. It doesn’t matter what country, size, shape or colour you are, everyone is treated equally.

For me personally, the best part of the village is the dining hall. Not only because it has a wide range of food that is free of course but because you get to mingle with other athletes from other countries and you see athletes that you never thought you’d see in real life. In 2004 it …
